"How to use Tips"Line:Recommend using 12-20 lb. abrasion resistant line when fishing with the 1-1/2oz. or 2 oz. Shad Minnow. Back to TopRigging:Attach spoon to line with a duolock type snap only. This will maximize flutter action of the spoon while jigging. Use a snap swivel to reduce line twist when spin casting or trolling. Back to TopCasting/Retrieving:Cast the 3/4 oz. Baby Shad into a surface feeding frenzy or "Striper Boil", retrieve quickly and be ready for a huge strike. Vary the style or speed of retrieving other spoons depending on weight and desired fishing depth. Back to TopJigging:Stripers are vulnerable to quick moving reaction-type spoons, such as the threadfin shad-colored Shad Minnow jigging spoon. Find a school of Stripers utilizing a fish finding graph. Drop the Shad Minnow into the school indicated on the graph. Raise your rod tip quickly through about 45 degrees, then lower your tip fast, repeating this process. Vary your jigging technique if fish are suspended off the bottom. Slow your jigging presentation down to slow when water temperatures are around 55 degrees or lower. Fish are less active at this water temperature. Back to TopTrolling (Tom Perry Downrigger Technique)Use a short piece (3') of flight (6lb) test monofilament line for a leader tied to a swivel. Tie the mono directly to the lure with no snap for better trolling action. Sometimes I insert one of those rubber shock absorbers at the swivel. I troll between three and four mph and its probably not the politically correct way to fish the wallylure, but it works for me. Don't knock success.
